I have a 63 plymouth belvedere 4dr with a 318 and was wondering if my 68/69 383 engine I have laying around would fit and bolt up to the stock transmission? This is the only mopar that I've own. It was bought about 11 years ago when I was a kid and haven't done anything with it since. Looked around on the web a little and thought I would check here. Thanks!
As far a the engine, yes. There are basically 3 k-frames 6cyl, V8 and hemi. As for the trans, no, the cases bolt pattern is different for your poly to the big block. If you had a big block case the trans internals as well as the tail housing could be used. If you go searching for a trans for the B/RB motor, look for a 65 unit as it will have a slip yoke type tail shaft rather than the ball and trunion your car has now.
Get a 65 Big block Trans. They have a slip yoke, and are cable shift so your push ****ons can be hooked up.
Yeah...Not quite that easy. The 65 can be ****on shifted but not just a simple 'hook-up-and-go'. The only trans that will a 100% interchangeable from a 62-64 B-RB. If you need the specifics then do a search over at the ForwardLook as it has been discussed in detail. http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/logon.asp .
My first car was a '63 Belvedere. I'd be glad to take her off your hands - I've got a 62 Imperial with a 413 that would "slide" right in. ;-)
There been a number of reports of problems with the company, and reports that they are now wholesaleing to dealers only now.

A 65 trans that was column shifted will work with the cables in the car now. If the donor 65 trans was a floor shifted unit there are a few small parts related to the valve body as well as the n/s switch that will have to be changed. Once these few parts are changed the cables in the car will also work. The case only needs to be a B case and any 62-65 unit will work. The output shaft and extension housing are the 65 only items you're after.
Also, you may have to do a radiator swap. I am thinking the bottom hoses are on different sides between the 318s and 383s.
