This one is soon on its way to my garage in Norway. I got a good deal on the apparently very solid buildt car. It was buildt some years ago by Harris Kustoms in Connecticut.
    heres a picture of it:

looks awesome except the cd player in the dash, i'm sure a simple cd player cover on a hinge painted the color of the dash would improve it

If you don't mind. How much is shipping across the pond?

Agree. It is not pretty at all, and sticks out like a sore thumb. Thats one of the first things I will change. I was thinking the same thought as you: A white painted cover should do it, maybe with some clean, chrome Deco ornament or something. Also will redo the black, ugly airtech switchpanel (partially shown below steering wheel in pic) to blend in a bit more.

It depends on shipper, but I landed around $2000 included insurance, in shared container.

More kustoms to Norway!! Looks nice, congrats :) maybe a radio from retro-sound will fit in there...

  14. Another option on the radio..check out Marine radios for boats. They're the same as car radios with added features..BUT...unlike car radios nowadays, they are available in colors other than black. You should find some white ones, silver, grey, etc.
For you guys planning a build, I've even seen one with a seperate remote digital "control panel" that had about 3" round face, allowing the radio to be under the seat. Didn't mean to hijack the thread..just thought it may be something to look into.
Fantastic Merc btw..sure hate seeing that good stuff leave the country.

Yeah. Who would have thought that a Canadian Monarch grille would end up on a US Mercury in Norway. By the way. The grille will most certanly change a bit later on. Heres before and after pictures of what I had in mind.
    What do you think.
And yes. The pillows I belive is included:D

Yes, very nice looking ride, more pics of course when it gets there.

  19. Yah, the grille has more of a "floating" style w/ horizontal bars only. And the chop is nicely done, especially around the doors.....

    Congrats!

Wow! That's a heavy chop, and it looks great! Fit and finish appear exceptional. Congratulations!

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the lot of a car like this in Norway?
Driving it must cause quite a sensation!

The grille change would certainly be cleaner and more appealing, but it is quite distinctive as it is. I wouldn't be in a hurry to change it.

I hope you'll update this thread often when you get it, and begin to make it your own. Threads get buried fast, and I'd hate to miss it!

Car looks great. I am sure you will be happy with it as The Harris' built some very nice looking quality cars. I know Pete (the son) very well and he is a top notch/stand up guy. Personally I think his 57 Ford was about the prettiest 57 I have ever seen.
The grill is unique and helps give the car its own personality. If every car had a DeSoto grill, how boring would that be?
Congrats on the car, enjoy it well! I am sure the guys in your area will be envious!

What did the side view look like before someone modified the photo with those wheels and tires?
