Its not many 49-51 Mercs in Norway. I personally can remember only five right now. Two chopped, mildly customized convertibles, one primed chopped coupe, one very nice chopped full custom similar in modifications to the one I bought, and one partially stock coupe. The latter is for sale these days, for about 60 % of what I got mine for included all costs.

Its the hubs that comes with the car, but the seller didnt lower the car for pictures so I did it in Paint. It goes almost as low as this. I would prefer no bags but the quality on Norwegian asphalt roads is average at best, evnet though we are "the richest country in the world" so to go low, bags are almost a neccesity:cool:

Keep in mind that the 49 and 50 grills are slightly different, I might be wrong but one of the two I believe the 49 has a split in all 3 bars in the middle, I think the 50 grill is solid and you can run it like in the second photo. I will include my 1949 Monarch grill with the center verticle bar still in place. Larry

Regarding the radio, get the original dash and guages, then get a stock radio, convert it to FM, then buy a CD changer with FM modulator;)
Hide the uggly parts is my motto!;)

PS. I have had one 49 and one 51 Merc;) In Norway;) Too common:D!
just kidding, very nice car there! Send more Kustoms to Norway!!

Know the car well. I'd leave the grille alone. Sorry to see another kustom leave the states, but I'm sure it's going to a good home. Enjoy it!

Finally got The Mercury home in my garage. The trip went fairly good from the US, but the driver side window was broken. Either by stress in the body during the trip, or more likely; Some fool forgot/didnt know that one need a special key to open the doors. It looks like someone tried to burglar the car with a steel wire. result: Sidewindow broken and paint scratches in the inner window frame just above the door handle. I had to replace the vent window anyway so I removed both windows in the door and have found a gl***cutter here in Drammen that cuts laminates. Lucky me.
Other than that, some minor things and dings has to be done before I try to get it registered up here. The rather heavy chop might be a problem, but I trust my good fortune and a friendly smile :D
