Folks Of Interest Jimmie vaughan

For those who haven't heard Jimmie Vaughan had a heart attack on the 23rd, but is recovering. He has inspired many with his great cars and music and he's a really nice guy to talk with.

My prayers go out to him and his family.

Jimmie looked pretty well at the GNRS Hall of Fame Induction Saturday afternoon in Pomona.

Talked to Jimmie Sunday at the GNRS , He was feeling better and on the road
to recovery.

 

I moved to Austin in '99, and hadn't met any car guys. I had a lowered 65 Riviera that came with me from Cali. One day, I came out to my car from work and found a Riviera Owners Club newsletter slid under my driver's side wiper. A note was scrawled on it. "Join the club and share the pride". The newsletter had the subscriber's name and address on it. Yep, Jimmie Vaughan. I subsequently met him at the first Lone Star Round Up and thanked him for turning me on to the club, which I'd joined. Jimmie's Riviera was a huge inspiration for my buying and customizing my Riv while in So Cal. Meeting him and discovering what a super human he is made me feel truly welcome in Austin. The man is every bit as cl***y as his cars. Here's hoping he's resting well and recovers fully. Thank you for being you, Jimmie.
