I'm no lawyer but from what I understand those not responsible signs don't mean ****.

It all boils down to what the policy covers.. or doesn't.

It's a terrible thing when a brother's car is stolen and we should all do what we can to help.

Conspiracy theories based on zero evidence don't help.

  4. BINGO! I think you've hit the nail on the head here, Bob. The cars stolen from upholstery shops are usually almost done too. Also, how can a shop owner deny a stranger wanting to see some work before committing to a job?
In cases where the owner would be satisfied with insurance money, I'd advise over-insuring the car for the time period in the shop. For those who would rather not risk the car, I'd suggest showing up with a painted roller. After watching these "shop theft" threads on the HAMB for all these years, that's what I'm going to do from now on.

There is always some SOB out there that will take from someone else. I hope they get theirs. Good luck in finding it. I hope it turns up and they catch the SOB.

I am a lawyer, and these "we are not responsible" signs don't mean **** in our legal system.

  7. What I said was "tongue in cheek" for cripes sake! Most have blamed the owner or the establishment when it's the ****in' thieves that cause the problem! If they were in jail/prison or dead we wouldn't have the problem

This is a low down act, As for the car leaving the USA it`s not going to happen, as the ***le is needed to get the car shipped, and it needs to be signed into the shippers name.
Iv`e shipped a few cars and bikes to Australia, and theres rules. Good luck, hope you find her.

I have 25 years in the machine shop business. Since there are often customer drawings out on the shop floor, we're careful about who walks in and sees work in progress.

In this business, other shops steal customers from each other or ripoff designs. They even dig through the dumpsters outside after hours to get a name off an invoice or discarded drawings. If someone needs to see a sample part, there are plenty in the office areas.

The concept is the same for car shops, but people are too trusting of "car guys" that walk in off the street.

I'm also a lawyer and I think the signs probably refer to personal property left inside the vehicle. The whole vehicle is covered under the law of bailment.

A customer can't complain about the $500 they left in the glovebox being missing.
