Hot Rods My new Miller Banger 28 Roadster

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by englishrodder, Jan 31, 2013.

  1. Collected last week while I was in CA showing my coupe at GNRS, plus sold my 29A roadster project to a UK rodder so was on the lookout for a new easier project (I travel a lot on business so limited on time with a 2 year old as well)

My new 28A Roadster with a Miller headed B Banger, Cross Drilled C crank, full pressure oiling, Magneto, Twin Strombergs, 34 Banger box, Halibrand quick change Model A rear, juice brakes.

Allegedly it was originally build by the owner/founder of Ross racing pistons Ken Roble - don't know how true this is...other than some named engine build sheets and bearings for the Halibrand rear end

She needed a few things sorting to get her running and driving right, it had only done about 100 miles in the last 5 years - few hours changing all fluids, empty the 5 year old gas, rebuild the strombergs, - runs great now,
Just waiting for my new tires as the ones on it are original implements that are cracked and rock hard.

Going to drive as is for a while and iron out any issues, then strip and paint the body dark blue, change the wheel color to black to match the running gear, trim the interior in old used brown leather.

I'd been watching that car on the bay while it was listed a couple times, wishing I had a way to pounce on it. It's a neat car. Good luck and have tons of fun. I think your plan is great.

Nice score! Drive the hell out of it. Family first and include them with the car.
Start building those family memories from a young age.

That just looks great! You now have what I am only beginning to build... gee I'm jealous:mad:
And ya... go for the dark blue like Washington with a drop more of Black Ink, and most certainly the aged heavy leather!!
Just a thought for your wires, perhaps Tacoma Cream?
And remember the banger creed "to drive it, like ya own it"

Nice and sporty and glad to see 28 A without a 32 grill/shell. Very cool. JW

I'll say "stupendous" since I didn't see that word used yet and it's appropriate. What a great little roadster, congrats and good luck with it.

You already have a way cool car. Now a second one? Some guys just have it made.
Way nice!! Congrats, can't wait to see it in person.

  25. Ha ha Paul,
Got this as a use it in all weather car, the 33 is far too much cleaning LOL!

I've actually got 3 rods, found this about 6 months ago, last used in 66. Was a push car for Colorado dirt track cars, has 39 Ford running gear

Love it. I saw a video of the owner driving it up the street. Seemed real quick and sounded great. Glad a Hamber got it!!!

Does anyone do blue wheels with the blue body?
Start a new trend, might look great.
