Projects Aussie 1930 Roadster Build

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Rocket88aus, Jan 29, 2013.

  1. Here is what I started with about 18 months ago. Bought the body from a local guy who had decided to get a Brookville body imported.

I ordered a So Cal front end, 32 rails and boxing plates. They seemed to take forever to arrive. Found out later that for some reason most of the suppliers order was left on the dock in LA. The paperwork managed to get loaded though.

A mate of mine had also ordered the same parts as me and was making a jig to build the chassis. So once his was completed it was my turn.

Doing pretty good for first timers.

Bought some wheels, a 283 SBC and Powerglide, Intake and Carbies. The SBC and Powerglide came from a 57 Chev and I didn't realise that the cast iron box was too large.

    More to come shortly.:)

  7. The SBC came with the Corvette valve covers. Intake is Edelbrock C26 with twin Holley 2110 carbs.

Long way to go yet. Had the body on and off what seems like a thousand times. Trying to get the some room between the firewall and distributor. Decided to reverse the firewall and channel her about 1".

    Here's how she looks.

  12. Back in the garage early tomorrow. Not looking forward to the 38c temperature though, that's about 100 in the old money.

Looks reallygood so far! Did you make those sub rails your self? What gage steel are they? Oh yeah suubscribed

  14. Yeah, lots of pie cutting & welding. Steel is 1.6mm not sure how that converts to gage, I think it's 0.0061".

  15. Ok it's 14 gage.

G'day there Tony Rocket88aus from Graeme Dad-Bud from Woodvale.
That's a great lookin' start you've got there - I'm as jealous as hell.
Maybe one day when I get home from workin' in London at the moment, you'll let me see it in the metal.
Keep postin' up those pics, and good luck with the build.
