My dad always reffered to his 47 International as a "Binder". But how that came about I'm not sure. I think he told me it had to do with a piece af farm equipment that they made. I'm no farmer but I would guess a hay bailer?

A nick name given to any International truck - in part due to IH builds corn binders.

  6. From International Harvester "corn binder".
Also called "shakers" because of vibrations.

International Harvester, Peterbuilt, And Kenworth once jointly designed a truck they called ..............."A Peter worth shaking".........

thanks guys, i have recently inherited a 47 KB2, and what was wondering WTF that means. this is a great website. i cant wait to get started on it...soon i hope

  8. As mentioned, it was called that because of it being built by a company that primarily built farm tractors.
Actually, the Freightliner was known as the "shaker" not the International, as in "Freightshacker".

What ever you do, just don't paint it green and yellow. That is highly blasphemous in most parts of the Great Plains.

No such thing as a stupid question BTW! We'd like to call it a question. International truck is the correct answer. Good luck with the build!

....With just as many stupid replies that have nothing to do with the OP's question

  18. 56Don commented on this thread and everybody knows he is the smartest guy in the world.... so OP should be thrilled and honored. Probably make a plaque for his "binder" that reads - ?

  22. G'day, I swapped for an IH pickup last summer. It was sight unseen so my very patient wife, my dad (who had seen the truck), and myself went to see it. The truck had an replacement engine installed by the previous owner and the core was still in the back of the truck.

So, Dad and I had been talking about this twin engine "Binder" we were going to pick up, and my wife was very disappointed to see an old IH pickup instead of some sort of dual engine threshing machine.
