I have a barn find 1963 Pontiac Tri Power. I took it to the carb shop and he stated that the carbs are matching and need rebuilt. I have the stock manifold as well. I have a SBC that I would like a Tri Power setup on. Can anyone tell me anything about these carbs and what my best bet to getting a setup for my Chevy. Any help is appreciated.
the center carb is smaller and is the primary carb, it has idle circuts etc.. the two end carbs are secondary carbs, no idle circuts, or like they cal them dumpers, they dump fuel...that set up works very whell, take all the vacume linkage off buy a mechanical linkage set for a 64 GTO and use the stuff, They are the big base rochesters, make sure ya have the right intake for the chevy..if ya get it right its incredible...id take them to a tri-power specialist though, i know most carb guy think they are just carbs, but they have issues, like throttleblade sealing, throttle shaft leakage etc.. mike@tripower.com good guy reasonable, and yuou can ask questions and he doesnt get pissed...he can do the whole thing or he can rebuild the throttle bodies/bases and you can do the rest..all the GTO people swear by him, ive had good dealings, and he's a wealth of info...he has new parts, most he reproduces..has modern gaskets for todays gas too..it seems todays fuel kill the old GM style gaskets and they leak got the linkage... username dadwarpath on ebay,.ive bought several and the stuff is better than factory
Decided to put the tri power in the corner and got 6 deuces for the SBC. I will put the tri power on a Pontiac motor for the next build.

I think saving that set-up for a Pontiac is a good idea.....with the price of Pontiac and their stuff (tri-powers etc),you might do great by selling to a restorer....you might be able to fund the sbc stuff and have pocket change. I once sold a tri-power SBF set-up with matching stuff that had sat for 20 years at least for $1550!!!
I was going to suggest you sell the Pontiac setup and buy the Chevy one because I bet the Pontiac one is a little harder to find and some GTO guy would love to have it. But putting it in a corner is a good idea too. I forget exactly, but that intake only fits a few years around 64, like maybe 63 and 64. It has been 45 years since I played with Pontiacs. Don
I have had some completely disgusting offers on the tri power. That's what lead me to hang onto it for the next build. And it looks really cool.
