I wanted to post a picture of one of my model cars that i have built on the sunday models thread, but the picture was to large to download and said download failed. So how can you make the picture smaller.

You need to install a photo shop type program or maybe your computer already has one installed. I use "Nero PhotoSnap Essentials" to reduce mine. Once you get the program, you just reduce the photo pixel sizes down to 2000 pixels or less in BOTH directions and they should load.

We use Flickr.com to host all of our pics that are not posted directly on our site. Flickr even offers the ability to choose several different sizes of a pic to post including original uploaded size. They offer simple free accounts and paid pro accounts.

Consider resizing down to about 800 or 1200 pixels wide. Much wider than that and they'll break the frames in the forum.

Irfanview and Google Picasa both work well and they're both FREE to download. You may already have an image browser installed that will do the job as well. As already mentioned, if you have a new enough version of Windows try right-clicking the picture and see if there is an option to resize.

Whatever you do, make sure that the resized image is saved under a new file name. DO NOT RESIZE your original image files!

Imageshack allows you resize your photos to any size you want. Really simple and easy.

Here's my hat trick, cause I ain't no computer wizard. Take the pictures in your file and email them to yourself. Then download the emailed pictures to a file marked "small ..." Then when you hit browse you can access those pictures and you will also have them for craigslist and future threads. It works for me, a simple mind.

http://www.hamrick.com/upg.html This is a slick photo program. And it's FREE Hit the Z key and it opens a window to resize, pick the width and hit V and it saves it that size. Been using it for about 15 years & no glitches. Joe H

I edit my photos using a free program from Olympus. I tried Picasa but it was too complicated for me. I edit the size to be 800 pixels on the longest side.

Most windows programs come with picture editor. It will crop, resize, rotate or flip.

Right on! I use it all the time to resize photos. Go to your picture file, click on the picture and then click on edit and you will see the icon for resizing.

I like Windows Powerpoint. It's easy to import it into the program. Just drag and drop in the open window, re-size to fit the window and save as a JPEG file. The JPEG is the most important. It's not the physical size of the photo, it's the size of the file that will kill you. Mine are typically under 100kb. If you resize it before you upload to photobucket, it loads quicker.

all you have to do is download this utility then right click and hit "optimize here" every time you want to make a picture upload sized. Easy peazy.

Irfanview works great, and emailing the photo to yourself works as well. ***uming you have a PC and not a Mac, it most likely has Microsoft Paint on it and you can resize photos in there as well.

When you have the picture opened up in Paint, go to the top of the screen and click on the Image ****on, then click on Attributes. A window pops up showing the picture width and height, and you can type in different sizes (like 640 x 480, or 1024 x 768.) Then, do a Save As and save it under a different name so you don't lose your original full size picture.
