    Hi all,

Well, today it looks like my fuel pump died. I have a '64 wagon that originally had a 194 I-6 but a previous owner had it replaced with a 250 I-6. From what I can tell, I think it has the stock 194 style pump as it looks like the picture listed on NAPA's site.

Looking up on NAPA's site, if I do a search for the "stock" 1964 configuration, I get the following pump listed, http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...530_0265211631

    If I put in a '70 Nova with a 250 I-6, I get a different pump, http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...503_0199760991

The main differences they list are

    For 194
Fuel Pump Gallons Per Hour : 30
Fuel Pump Pressure Rating : 3.2 lb - 4.7 lb
    Fuel Pump Fitting Size : 1/8"-27 N.P.S.F.; 1/8"-27 N.P.S.F.

    For 250
Fuel Pump Gallons Per Hour : 23
Fuel Pump Pressure Rating : 5 lb - 6.5 lb
    Fuel Pump Fitting Size : 3/8" 90 Degree; 1/2"-20 UNF-2B

I do have a Clifford intake and exhaust with a Holley 390 4 barrel carb.

Any ideas which one I should get?

Go for the correct one for the motor. If the 70 is the year use it.

Well, I went with the one I listed for the 250 above. NAPA had it in stock. As I was researching last night, I found the Holley carb wants between 4.5 and 6.5 psi. We tested the original one and it was at 3 psi at idle. An exact replacement would have been on the low side at max psi, I figured it would be better to use the one for the 250.

It seems to have helped with the idle. Still sorting out a few things but between that and getting the timing set correctly, it is running much better. No more pinging under a hard acceleration.
