I just finished watching one episode on lowriders. It was pretty good. They went to the right people for the history i guess. It did a pretty good job of expalining all the different aspects of lowriding. They even talked about Kustom cars involvment in the development of Lowriders. Oh yeah I even saw a split second clip of Skratch striping a car in there too. I want to see the one on the SHIFTERS again i only caught the *** end of it Last time.
Like him or not, Bill Goldberg is a real car guy...I'm sure he doesn't write the show but I believe he uses his automotive knowledge and enthusiasm to good use...it's not bad...
I'd much rather watch Goldberg than that Coddington piece of put on drama any day of the week...AND twice on Sundays! The writers seem to go directly to the source and don't seem to pump it up...it pretty much straightforward... R-
I don't mind Goldberg too much, except I've seen him down play some really cool cars. I'm not sure his knowledge of cars it what I'd hope for in a host, but then again he's as good/better than alot of the others hosts out there. The lowrider show and I think they also did a hot rod show that were both decent.
I think the show is pretty cool, with lots of good info, especially for a beginner like myself, but I also think that Goldberg dude is a ****ing dope.
I agree, good informative show, retarded host. But if you want the show to stay on the air they have to have some sort of gimmick to get the average tv viewer to tune in, so if I have to listen to a ***** host the show to keep good shows on then that's that.
I agree. On one episode he was covering cop cars, and the way he put it, the 82 mustang is basically the greatest car ever made. hmmm. With most people you can tell that they know some stuff, but not much. For instance, take motors and transmissions. To us, a 350 chevrolet is called a "350". To the novice, they seem to call it "chevy 350 small-block", as if there is also a 350 big block. Also with ******s, a powerglide is a powerglide, but to the novice its a "automatic 2-speed powerglide", as if there are are manual powerglides with more than 2 speeds. Im sure that he loves cars, but I believe they are putting words in his mouth that he is unsure of. plus, whenever I think of goldberg, I remember July 6, 1998 when he beat hogan for the ***le (leave me alone, I was in 7th grade!)
Goldberg is a big time musclecar guy. He does know his muscle car stuff. I bet he is reading a script for the show.
The moonshine episode was ok, but it seemed just when it was gonna get interesting, they'd cheese it up with something else. I guess I just have higher standards, after all I listen to NPR. It's better than 99% of that **** they push on the "big 3" networks. Jay
Yeah, the show ain't half bad. A lot better than the Main Stream Media, and, considering the producers, and audience they aim at, I don't feel offended when they make asinine comments on cars, engines, etc. We know better, so what's the diff!?!?!? DW
good show, from what ive seen, unfortunately since they have only limited time to explain things they leave out alot of important info on stuff. the lowriders one was a great example of that, tons of important movement stuff left out. and i especially like the one with the "red &white" i believe he said something to the effect that they were more of a "family oriented" club looking to ditch thier old reputation,....was a good laugh. i wonder if they knew the show was gonna say that but they breez through stuff trying to get most of the information to you, i suppose it would be hard to get all the information stuffed into one show.
I think that Nora Roberts or MeShelle Norman talking hot rods would be... HOT! Sorry for the O/T. Jay
I just watched the lowrider show and liked it. I learned a few things about the history that I didn't know. A show like that can never cover everything, but they piqued my interest enough to research a little more. That is a success in my book. Also, I think Goldberg has toned his tough guy act down a bit in the last couple of shows. Or, maybe I'm just getting used to it and ignoring it. I *****ed about him in another post on this show, so I've said my piece. All in all, it's one of my more favorite car related series, despite the host.
There isnt a show on TV I cant ***** about. Atl east there are some shows on TV about this **** at all. It used to be the sunday morning TNN stuff(Spike tv now) and thats it. Now we have all these new ones to ***** about I think its great. Even the shows I hate I somehow keep watching because I might see a cool car in the background.
I like the series and Bill Goldberg is a good host, they'll never get all the facts straight, but it is good to see this stuff on air. Some of the statements make you wonder though, what was the deal with lowriders having illegal suspention modifications? The way Goldberg was explaining it guys were getting busted for running with cut coils, then they started to bag cars to have "legal" cars. The old film footage is always good to see, but not always spot on accurate for the year being discussed.
