I am thinking about buying leaf springs for my Fairlane from here. Just wondering if anybody has any info about them.

    Thanks Jeanette :D

I had a friend with a 64 like ours who got his springs from J.C. Whitney. I liked the way his 64 set with them so I bought a set also. They were low priced and have been on my car for 13 yrs now with no regrets. Might be worth a look for yours as well. Tom.

Well turns out they are out of stock with no timeline for me as to when they'll get more.

So looks like I am back to the General Springs company.

At one point, every town of any size had a spring & wheel shop. They made leaf springs and repaired wheels. The technology hasn't changed over the years-they still shear and roll flat bar stock to make leaves. The equipment is very heavy duty and usually dirty.

Where they still exist, they usually concentrate on heavy truck spring replacement and repair. However, if they've been in busuness for any length of time, they'll have specifications for about anything that was ever manufactured.

The best bet is to find somebody local where you can walk in and talk to a guy acrross the counter about what you want and have some ***urance that you're both on the same wave length. I notice that you're in Minneapolis and your source is in Kansas. Is there some reason you selected them? I would think that the Minneapolis Yellow pages would reveal a local source where you COULD walk in and talk to THE MAN. I'm fortunate to have Warner Spring here in Indy and they can make anything I can dream up.

I lived in Minneapolis a few years ago. I had a spring company there buiild some for a Studebacker. I know the company is still there but cannot remember the name. They were located just off Hwy 94 and Broadway in North East Minneapolis. As mentioned above they do mostly trucks. Might give them a call, they seemed knowledgeable and easy to work with.

Local, if possible, is best. My local shop will incease or decrease the spring arch at no charge when I buy their springs. They're also cheaper locally due to the shipping weight of the springs.

If you live in MPLS, buy from Kremer. Save shipping cost. They do great work.

    Thanks everybody for your responses.

I do know there is a local spring company that does trucks over Northeast, but I wasn't sure if they did cars. I will check them out!!

Ok, I just called Kremer and they don't stock cars springs anymore and would have to make them at a cost of about $300 each side.

Seeing that this company in Kansas City (which I found on the web) wants $100 per side I think I will just go with them.

    Thanks again everybody!

I will let you know how the quality is.

Went through this a few years ago in Minneapolis. The old time spring shops are gone, but discovered one of the old Healy Spring employees bought all the tools and equipment and is able to build most any leaf spring you might need.

He made my rear 1/4 ellipticals and my front cross spring with reverse rolled eyes.

Three months ago I had him add a leaf to my front and re-arch the pack.

You won't find him listed under spring shops as he uses the name...

Just noticed I never updated this.
I did end up buying from this company and the shipping was super fast, and the springs look quality.
I am very pleased and it was very reasonable.
