lo c dan: A little history, if it's the car I think it is in the current state it was built by the Appleman family in Ohio. I built the original version (Fendered and Yellow with lots of louvers) back in 1978 and took it to the 78 or 79 Nats (my memory is a little fuzzy) where it was photographed by HotRod and Street Rodder where it appeared later in 79 in both magazines. I traded it to Gary Roberts from Toledo for a deuce roadster and chopped 33 5 window both in pieces. He later sold it to a guy in central Ohio who sold off all the louvered pieces, removed the hinges and started to build a slick version. Applemans acquired the car from him where they proceeded to re add all the louvers and create the maroon beauty in your post. After Appleman finished the car he came to my booth at the nats in Louisville to show me the car and we laughed that if someone had thrown a car cover over the car in the original version it would have been perfect for the current times. I have no idea where the car is now.

  16. So, the conclusion we should reach is this: A bad-ass 5-window coupe is guaranteed if you whack the frame rails and gas tank off the ass of one! :)

I remember my first ride in my coupe. I was renting a garage in an industrial park and took it up the road to the circle at the end, no doors and a milk crate for a seat, when I went around the circle the milk crate almost slipped out the door opening. Good times.
