Howdy... Been watchin' from the shadows, thought I'd better step up and do the introduction. My name is Curt. I got into cars, building models as a kid. My first car at 16 was '60 Impala, at 17 bought a new '69 Road Runner, from there...Firebird, El Caminos, a couple bikes, Nissan Z-car, various vehicles along the way. Kinda got out of cars for a while...got married, daughter, home purchases took priority (2 more El Caminos squeezed in there!)...btw, my wife really dislikes El Caminos!!! I may get another some day...heh heh heh! About 20 yrs. ago I really got the bug again, picked up a '33 Ford 2dr. Sedan, sold that to fund a '32 project, during that time I found a '57 Country Squire driver and discovered "comfort"! Got hooked on that era, sold the '32. Pissed off the wife when I sold the Squire (still gives me **** 'bout that!), there was a'60 Dodge Phoenix in there somewhere. About 10 yrs. ago I got an urge for a '60 Pontiac or Olds, picked up a '60 Canadian Pontiac Parisienne at Back to the 50's in St.Paul...think I'll keep it! 3 or 4 years ago bought a '49 Shoebox Ford Club Cpe. for a driver while I blow the Pontiac apart...still driving the Pontiac as the '49 needs attention!!! Been self employed upholstering cars for about 17 yrs., I've had my share of mouse poop, pee and dried up carc***es! Well... that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!! Posted photos/info in #13 &14...
Welcome from the west coast of Florida. You win the award for one of the best introduction of the year!!!!!!!!! That's the way it should be done. Just kidding hope you enjoy the HAMB as much as I do and best of luck. Jimbo
Hi Curt, Nice life-story - actually, a great intro - well done. When you get a chance, maybe you can start a thread and keep us up to speed on the build of your 60 Pontiac. Welcome and cheers.
Thanks dad-bud, I'm still learning how to navigate around here...forgive my "FNG-ness"! I posted Pontiac pix on #13. It's a reliable driver for now. I do have a stroker motor block machined & ready for ***embly. Slowly collecting tri-power items...almost complete. As I mentioned, the '49 has a few issues to tend to first... mainly cooling & suspension/brakes. (302c.i. w/ C4 trans.) Seems I can't quite always get the $$/time "thing" working in unison!!! ...Murphy's Law, ya know! grrr-r-r-r
I wish I hadn't sold my 57 Country Squire too... I kept a Country Sedan instead... Welcome to the H.A.M.B.
