"ford" wheels, look like Fenton Gyro's

I was just offered some very narrow aluminum slot wheels that look a lot like Gyro's but on the back is the ford script etched into them. The bolt pattern is 5 on 5.5". I was wondering if these would be off of some ford factory drag car from back in the day or what?

 

how narrow are they?

 

Seems like there was a trim package for the Maverick that included slots and some funky stripes. They wouldn't be 5 on 5.5 though.

Sounds like 70's Lincoln wheels with the 5.5 pattern. Without the caps they have a slot mag apperance.

 

I wish I had a picture to show, I had dismissed them because I'm wanting a chevy pattern. Just got to thinking about the ford script and they sure look like a purpose built front runner for drag racing. Got to thinking they may be something special.

Don't think so there really wasn't anyplace for a hubcap to be installed.

Late 70's (like 78-79) Ford pickup used an aluminum slotted wheel on the "Sport" models. I think they were a 15 x 7. They have a D-shaped slot. Not a bad looking wheel, but 15x7 is not a great Hot Rod size.

I believe they were an optional wheel on late 70's Ford F-100 pickups like this 1977 Ford F-100 Stepside pickup

 

They are a factory option wheel for the Ford Freewheeling Package and other higher trim packages from the late 70's thru the early 80's.

 

I just saw a set for sale the other day, said they were Ford and had either the 5 or 5 1/2 bolt circle might have been on ebay I will see if I can find them. I am thinking Bronco, it seems to me when my son in law was going out with my daughter he had a Bronco with factory slots.

 

These are 3 1/2" front Fenton gyro's. I guess they are similar...

5 on 4.5" on the Maverick. That was the "Stallion package. It was on the Mustang II Maverick and Pinto. The same wheels were the factory option on the '71 mach 1. 5" would be Mercury Lincoln from the late 50's.

 

mid 70's Econoline vans had a slot alloy option used in later vehicles too.

 

I don't think the vans ever came with a 5 on 5 1/2, 5 on 5 ,but I don't remember any 5 on 5 1/2, but with Ford you never know.

The 5 x 5.5" bolt pattern were used on Ford F100's, F150's, they were also used on Bronco's, and mid 1970's, and up Ford vans. The big Ford cars used nothing bigger than 5 x 5"

No, Ford Econoline (E100 & E150) and the half ton F series pickups had the 5 x 5.5" lug pattern. I own a rare, all original survivor 78' Dark Jade metallic E100 Freewheeling van, short wheelbase with a 351W. It came stock with these wheels on it and a 3 spoke aluminum steering wheel. The factory hot rod of the van craze lol
