Guys, who do you recommend for an as close to an A- Z front disc brake conversion kit? I need it all. Brake booster/mc , calipers, etc. Currently running a stock front setup and s10 rear. I want more comfort than the stock drums as I live in a tourist town and drive around others that can't.
Andy, google up Scarebird. He's a HAMBer as well. Makes a set of brackets and gives you a shopping list for the other parts you need to get at parts store or salvage yard. You can buy from him direct or via ebay. You may have to ask him regarding rotors and/or hubs w/bolt pattern that matches your rear axle. John
If Scarebird can help, I suggest using Alliance Vendors. I didn't know about when I did mine. But I used Braketech Solutions. Very easy. Basically plug and play. I don't know whether Alliance Vendor or not. If a dummy like me can do it; anyone can.
Used CE for my 51 Chevy; booster/mc/pedal ***embly from ABS Power Brake. Hard lines from Inline Supply, flex lines from . . . can't remember, maybe CPP, have to look it up. Not sure if you can get soup to nuts from one supplier except your local hot rod supply shop. Had no problems, pretty straight forward.
Yes. Will I have to change for clearance.junk yards are scare at the beach and wanting to complete by March 15th. Chevyofth40s has the brake setup and looks to be the same as e c I.l have a call with them Monday along with tech support to do an a to z setup and check pricing. 1200 dollar range I have heard. This car will be a family driver.
We are waiting for some hub samples to develope this to fit in the existing rims, but no way will make the Ides of March...
I prefer Buffalo Enterprises. He really knows (and loves) these old Chevys. His disc brake kit is the only one that does not move the wheels outward. Plus, the steering arms are dropped in the process (a big plus if running dropped uprights.) I also recommend his uprights, which are engineered with extra caster built in. I also have another build, using other (well known) products, but prefer the Buffalo parts. (Both cars use Buffalo's dual MC conversion kit, BTW.)
Scarebird, do you have a kit for the 49-54 chevrolet cars at all right now? Looked on your site and did not see one. Do not have to use stock rims on mine. I would like to be able to use 82-92 Camaro front rotors and calipers since I have a set. Any advice?
Do you offer a caliper bracket ( or kit) for the camaro/firebird 11" rotors using non-stock year rims? I already have 1980-1990 pontiac wheels that work with disc brakes and have the 4.75" BC.
I think Chev of the 40s will be my best best.Has anyone run the under the floor booster/mc? It used the stock brake pedal
