I detailed in another post how I fell into this free 57 Chrysler New Yorker 2 door. Well, its almost ready for paint. We spent the last two months dinging out and polishing all the trim. Two months is really fast when you understand how much fracking chrome and stainess is on one of these babies. We were ready to go with stock colors, but now its gonna be a deep metallic green with pearl white roof and inserts. The chrome came out so beautiful it really needs a deep color to set it off. The former owner had collected all the parts for the complete restoration including all new weatherstrip, and had recently had the hemi rebuilt. It runs like a clock. Damn I'm getting excited
Missed the other post, but like they say, "if it's free it's for me" looks like a sweet car and the colors you picked should be awesome. Congrats!
the best looking Chryslers built.is that the finished stance? is that one of those feared junk yard bunny rabbits I've heard about?
Awesome! Please give a link to the other post you mentioned. Love to see more of the car, before you got to the current stage, bro!
It'll sit lower than that . We took off the bumpers and the car came up over two inches! There's more metal in one of these bumpers than in my Ford Ranger PU. Scupper, the killer shopbunny is another story. He started coming around when we were building my new shop. We started feeding him lettuce and carrots, and he kinda became a buddy. He just moved into the shop when we built it. He's a cool pet. He has the run of the place and uses a litter box in the corner. He's really sweet and likes to be petted by visitors.
My wife LOVES 57-59 mopars. We recently found a 57 Dodge custom royal lancer 2dr hdtp in a salvage yard nearby......its way too rough, even for me, but probably worth its weight in parts.
Those are some BIG FINS you have there. Nice work and a great choice on the new colors. Let's see it when you have color on it.
Chaz - Very, very cool! ... but then again, I may be just a tad bit biased ... see the "'57 300 C" and the "The Inman '57 Chrysler Custom" albums in my HAMB user profile: click thumbnails to view albums The deep metallic green / pearl white paint combo should look real *****in' !!! ... I ***ume you'll be dyeing or replacing the dark aqua seat covers & interior panels that originally came in your "Seafoam Aqua" / "Cloud White" NYer? What tire/wheel combo did you decide on? ... the stock NYer hubcaps? ... or a set of Chrysler (Motor Rim) wires? ... If the budget allows for it, my vote is for some wires ... IMO, they really compliment the looks of the Exner Forward Look cars (be it a restoration ... or a mild, full, or radical custom).
I've got a full set of the original hubcaps, but the original wheels are long gone. Wires would be awesome if I could afford a set. What's available in todays market?
Brings back memories. When I was 15 Our family car was a 57 Saratoga 392 police intercepter package. painted coral and desert sand 2tone. Whata car!!!!
RALLY AMERICA (Jimmy wheelkid McLean) offers a nice set of 4 repros for $2030 ... $1827 if you were a H.A.M.B. Alliance member ... click thumbnail to view website
That Inman Chrysler makes my pants fit funny. when I first got the car I thought about building a clone, but I never seem to hang on to my cars for long so it seemed best to just rebuild it stock and leave the options to the next owner.
Stockton Tire has stock rims made for radials...kinda interested in your slots if they're available...for my 60....
Good to see you making some progress. I drive by a 57 Windsor sitting in an rv storage lot on the way to work and back every work day.
Looks like a great starter car. I love these babys. The two tone will be excellent. great car, great work~ ~sololobo~
Here's a picture of it painted. I sold the car shortly after to a guy in CA. He's taking good care of it!
