As a reference for a future project, I am trying to get some feedback as to what type of distributor you are running...or plan to run. Thanks. By vintage Mallory I am referring to the YC series. (cast housings, etc) Aftermarket dual point referring to the YL and 25 series. (machined housing, etc.)
You need a "other" box to check! I like my Grant Spalding Flamethrower and will be building a Vertex Mag
Sorry, I don't fit into any of your categories, so I can't vote. I have a Cirello "Frankenstein" on my vintage dirt car ( my avatar).
I have to say that I am somewhat surprised so far, as to the lack of interest in aftermarket dual point. I suppose in all reality, there would be not much to gain there over the stock distributor, other than the look of a Mallory.
I am planning on a short deck desoto for my T, I have a cast iron 273 dual point, I was planning on using that with the Hot Heads intermediate shaft. If a vintage Mallory was available to me, I would be interested in that. Are you thinking about approaching mallory about a limited run or something? I would also consider a mag if I can find one for a reasonable price. Electronic distributors and pertronix conversions do NOT figure into my plans at all.
Just toying at conversions of existing units. Bascially like the Pertronix that I did with the adjustable collar.
I'm using a modified 318 Mopar distributor. But being a electronics geek, I'm using a '76 GM 4 pin ignition module to trigger the coil. I like unusual things like that. I mounted it under my dash so it's not seen.
