Thank you. We will be doing a aluminum frame with a aluminum skin. Every thing will be welded for a clean look.

it is probably the source he is pulling his pictures from. im in Afghanistan and our internet blocks photos from photobucket. so about half the threads i go to are blocked images. if it is your own internet you need to check what websites you have blocked, check your cookies, and all that fun stuff.

I link my pictures from my profile page. I have a album there called COE Build. You can go there and see the pictures in that album if you wish. I'm not sure why you can't see them in the thread though? Sorry I couldn't be more of a help.

What ever you do, don't use the original round mirrors sticking out on a stick.

You will never be able to see whats behind you at highway speeds.

I opted for Jr west coast mirrors even though I like the looks of the originals.

Now that we finished up on the mock up it's time to work on the cab mounts and adding some more framing to give the cab some more structure strength. We will also start to layout the new floor pan.

Chris drilling out the last of the spot welds.
All striped out and getting ready to turn the cab on it's back to add the extra cross bracing.
Made the turn with no injuries.

This is what happens when uninvited guest come and stay. GRRRRR! The plan is to rebuild this section to accommodate a small air tunnel to give the engine some fresh air anyway.

This is a tough one. Chris and I said man we are going to need some big mirrors on this to see what's beside me. I was hoping to keep the stock looking mirrors. I don't really care for the big ones that require a tri-pod hook up to the door. I'm planning on running a back up camera to see whats behind me. Maybe they make one that works for side viewing. More research.

Really? You don't like West Coast mirrors? I like 'em on a truck, particularly one you're actually using. They look purposeful. I put 'em on my Diamond T, which, like your Ford, had goofy looking little mirrors on long wobbly stalks on the hinges. We'll be pulling our trailer(s), and I want to see whats in back of, and beside us. The stainless West Coast Jr. mirrors I found are on adjustable arms, so they tuck in close when we won't have the trailer on, and extend for towing.

I should add that the WC mirrors on my dually didn't prevent me from backing right into my garage and knocking the divider wall between the garage doors off it's foundation while plowing the other day. Objects in mirrors, including a house, are closer than they appear...

Not to hijack, just wanted to show the WC mirrors on the DT. To me, those look better than the little mirrors on long stalks. Of course, we all like different stuff!

    I agree with Brian ^^^

...plus the West Coast Mirrors give it more of a 'Big Truck' look & feel.

and....(hate to be the one to say this...) they'll be a ton easier to see what's goin' on out back. Sure, your video cameras may do a great job, but I don't trust electrionicals all that much!!

  20. On a vehicle with a blind side the size of a soccer field-mirrors are your friend.

and put a convex mirror on both sides as well. helps take away some of the blind spots. mirrors like flyingbrian shows would be my choice instead of the pickup style west coast mirrors. those are just ugly.

For the big truck look, those seem quite nice, Brian... For my '41 I'm thinking smooth and hidden and was entertaining the idea of cameras with a small screen built into each far side of the dash...

Big mirrors. Small, incon****uous mirrors belong on street rods.

Thats not so crazy... slice 'em in half and they'd be great mirrors!

  29. You only have to change lanes once into the side of the vehicle beside you to appreciate larger mirrors on larger vehicles;)
