I am taking a little break from working on the WIllys to get the '64 Polara I bought last fall ready for summer. I bought a hemi style hood scoop at CHRR last year and thought I would do something different. This is my first attempt at doing lace paint and with my 72 year old Dad's help here's what we came up with. I still need to color sand and clear it. What we started with just sitting on the hood: And what we did today: Finished design:
We had lace work on a 69 Fairlane C-J car. A bunch of muscle cars in stock eliminator had that treatment.
I remember lots of lace on cars in the 60's. Muscle cars and g***ers. If you want a challange try a ribbon paint job.
Nice job, I like it. I remember my brother had a white 62 Ford Galaxy with a red interior for a winter car one year. We painted some narrow red lace stripes on both sides. When he sold it in the spring, the buyer thought the lace accent was very cool.
Looks good, and works just fine on that scoop/era. A buddy had an early Goat laced to the nines, looked 'far out'.
