Traditional winter run for vintage & cl***ic cars in Jyväskylä Finland was ran yesterday 9th Feb. This time (2013) it was the 40th run, the first time was 1974. Roughly 250 vehicles drove the 100kms route. Copyright of photography Mr. Petri Skog, enjoy the slide show: http://www.petriskog.com/Transportation/Automotive/Talwiajot-2013
I was hoping to see my roadster ,I sold it to some nice people there about 5 years ago. Open cars,Tuff people .
theres some nice rides... we have a customer at work that has us restore cars and then ships them over to finland somewhere
Even given the weather, I see a lot of smiles on faces. some interesting vehicles in there too. Looks like a 'cool' day, I guess in weather like that you can either decide to mope about or just get out and have some fun!
That was actually great fun weekend, a bit over 500 miles during 3 days. Cymru that car is Pobeda. People drove mainly with 60´s and 70`s cars which was boring to me but the were real gone restorers as well. They came even from Sweden, Norway & Esthonia. There were about 220 cars on run. Roads were quite bad. I did not mind: my car had winter tires and trac-lok. I just tired waiting for some cars to try go up to hills and push them. On evening evet there were few narrow minded people like that old lady who asked people party quiet (?). I made few new friends, ate hard and even drove fast. What a way to spend weekend. I did not mind too much that 1" sleet layer on highway speeds or small snow mountain on dashboard but tecnically my car run well. That's really crazy here we put the cars away in winter time and over there you race in the snow!!!!!!! How cold was it each day and driving some of the old cars in snow almost seems like a crime. Jimbo
That looks like some fun times - but all that snow reminds me of why my Grandmother used to tell me why they moved from Finland to the US in the first place
Being half Finnish I love seeing these great events you guys put on over there. My Fin grandmother would say you have SISU! Thanks for the photos.
