I have a 46-52 Open drive trans in my '33. I am putting it to a V8 quick change with a Chevrolet u joint. The rear isn't a problem as I have found a conversion joint for the driveshaft. But the front has my local parts guys out of luck. I need to convert the little Ford yoke into an 1-1/16 u-joint. The yoke is a really narrow 1". Does anybody have a good source for this type of knowledge? Or a driveline shop that still has the 2-1/2" insert for a driveline with the early Ford truck end?

    Thanks,
    Tim

  2. I'd bet there's a u-joint made for the application .......... just a matter of finding someone that can match up the measurements and order the part , worst case find a driveline shop that can splice and balance the two shafts if you happen to have one of each :)

Is your trans the 10 spline yoke? If so I just had this problem. Good news a yoke from a early powerglide from a chevy is the same spline with the U-joint size your looking for.

Thanks for the response. I went through my junk pile and found a '60 F-100 yoke that fit with 1-1/16 caps. Back to the parts store I go. Hopefully this works.

    Thanks again,

    Tim

  5. Tim,
If you find no love at the autoparts drop me a note I have a box with new to newish ******* joints in the garage that I have collected over the years. With some measurements in hand and a little good fortune I may have something.

Thanks ******! I had some luck today and the supposed joint will be here tomorrow for test fit. Fingers crossed on this one. It'll solve alot of problems if it works.

    Take Care,

    Tim
