Just got my transmission (350 turbo) rebuilt and I'm looking for a nice shifter with mechanical linkage, no cables to put in my 26 T. Is there something other than a lokar that you guys have used and liked? Save the 4-speed comments, with cowl steering and a heavy channel no room for a third pedal on this one. Thanks

These always the option of using a old 3 or 4 speed shifter and fabricating some linkage to just one of the linkage mounts,,you wont have a reverse lock out but it may work for your purpose.

Check around the internet and swap meets I've seen some old Fenton automatic floor shifters from the 60's in the past. HRP

Just to add to HRP's suggestion......I fabbed one from a mustang floor shifter that worked quite well. Shift arm length on trans. should be long/short enough so total throw matches total throw of shifter. Easy job!

I'm kinda wanting reverse lockout as I'm dropping in my new 377 stroker, all forged internals, aluminum heads, and new Hampton 6-71. Transmission is built with shift kit, hardened second gear sprag, and 10" Holeshot converter. I know none of this sounds very traditional , but I was just wanting some other ideas other than lokar. Thanks for the input so far.

I had a B&M unimatic in my '55 Chevy, it's cable operated but has a very simple detent setup, you push the entire stick down to get it out of park / reverse lockout. its not really a hi performance shifter but it works fine. I modified it with a Hurst straight tall stick...

I've since replaced it with a modified B&M Pro Ratchet, so if you're interested in the other I'll post some pics.

^^^^^ I like the looks of that, I'll have to check on that one. Thanks

  8. You can probably get one from about any catalog speed shop for less than a saw buck. They used to be a 50 dollar shifter new in the box.

I picked one up at a swap meet. I think it was out of some type of Toyota. I put it in my 23 T with a 700R4 trans and it worked great. Didn't even have to adjust the linkage.

I have been using this B&M shifter that is specifically made for a TH350 ******.

I have had a lot of luck with this shifter so far and would definetly recommend it. There was another thread on here about this very topic/question. Seems a lot of other HAMBers are using this shifter and like it as well.

If you want to change handles HAMBer The Dash Man makes some pretty cool handles, too.

I've seen this one doesn't look bad, definitely one to consider. I've got an idea on making my own H.A.M.B shift knob.

hunt down an old Hurst Autostick. They bolt to the extenson housing, use linkage, use the regular 2 bolt handle and fully gated.
