    F10= F100
    J= 223 IV inline six
    R= San Jose ***embly
    340995= Born in the month of October 1962 it is the 15,995 thousand F series truck produced for the 1963 production run.

    There should be a door tag on the drivers door that has additional information on rear, trans, paint and trim.

    All three speed and automatic trucks had a low hump cab. Model 81(conventional) or model 66 (Uni)

    All four speed trucks had the high removable hump. Model 81 or model 66

    All four wheel drives received the high hump regardless of the trans. Model 81 only as there was no four wheel drive model 66s .

    This is for 61 through 64.

    Post the 3 rows of information in order and i can still decipher it even if it has been painted over.

    22 is inaccurate. it should be 120 for the wheel base as it is a long bed.

    There is no "S" for color in 63, what is the color on it. If ford painted the truck with a non standard color this section would be blank.

    F100 is the truck registration rating. for 63 this meant that the truck had a 5000#weight rating nominal 1/2 ton. If it was a F101 it would be a de rated truck to skate past the states reregistration.

    66A is the model. 66 meaning a unitised body construction. the A is for standard cab. If it had a B it would be a custom cab.

    A is for the transmission. In this case a ford 3 speed standard duty

    12 is for the rear axle. Ford 9" 3.89 gear set 3.3M weight rating.

    5000 is the truck gross vehicle weight, the maximum it can weigh with load and p***engers.

    114 is the horsepower of the 223 six engine it was equipped with.

    3600 is the RPM where maximum horse power is produced.

    71 is the DSO or district sales office, meaning where it was ordered from by the dealer. 71 is for Los Angeles.

    Color code G for white.

    All this information is found in the ford shop manuals and parts books. Plus it helps to have over 30 years of specialization in 61 to 66 ford trucks.
