ok.... need some help. I have a SBC in a 27 Model T with no hood (see profile pic) and the blade fan doesn't cut it. Its too small (someone before me cut the blades down for fitment). I am going to switch to an electric fan and am looking for advice on what size I need to cool a SBC with an open engine bay.
I see the sizes of elec fans range in diameter and CFM and just wondering what will cool my new car.

I appreciate any advice.... sarcastic or serious.

Get one from a late model lincoln. I buy them at pull-a-part for 25 bucks. They are designed to cool a Ford :p, so they will have no problem cooling a Chebbi

How about a photo of the offending fan still attached in relation to the radiator? HRP

Put the biggest SPAL fan you can fit in there and put it behind the radiator so it is pulling air through the radiator.

Check out the Flexalite fans (http://www.flex-a-lite.com/). They should be able to steer you in the right direction. I'm using the Flexalite 180 (3500CFM) to cool a hemi and have had to adjust the thermostatic control so it cycles less often to keep the operating temp in the 180* range. Based on your setup and ***uming your water pump is moving at least 30GPM I would think that a 2500 CFM fan would be plenty.

That is what I am running! Great fan. Electric with a manual switch is the way to go!
