Im picking up a 1940 Packard this weekend. Its mostly taken down and has been sitting outside for ages. My main question was that if it has any value. Improbably going to sell or part it out. Just curious if any members had one. Thanks
Had one. It depends on the body style and series. Opens cars are quite desirable, and coupes are nice material for early customs. The 110 and 120 sedans don't bring much money at all (less than a similar '40 Ford), only the nice original or restored Senior series cars are really collectable. If they (closed cars) are a basket case or major project, it will take more money to restore them then they are worth. Parts cars are not hard to find. Steve
I agee with michigander not knowing what you have is hard to tell.He is right about the 110 and 120's as they were the low end models, but coupes I think are pretty *****in if you want to buid a custom.I'm doing a 40 packard as we speak so if you decide to part out I do need a few items.PM me and let me know.
The main question is WTFYG? Some '40 Packards are worth $250,000. Some are worth s**** value. jack vines
Sorry for the lack of info guys. A neighbor has this car and a 40 Sedan that he wants me bring to my place. He bought them and his friend who was going to work on them p***ed away. I got the 40 Ford Sedan for parts. I have only seen the Packard from the front,so when I get pics I will post them. I posted earlier this week about finding a 32 Ford 5 window and am having to wait til Saturday to go get it, forgive me for having my mind elsewhere
A friend of mine build a '40 Packard coupe into a street rod, it's a really nice car, and the only one you'll see at any show. It's 440 mopar powered, tubbed with stock sheet metal. I'd build one if I ever had the chance.
If the doors and deck lid are there, and rust out is minor (!), I'd say there are about $1500 in parts there (junk inside not counted). Steve
