I have purchased the disc brake conversion from Scarebird.com for my 56 Star Chief. Can anyone tell me what they used for a brake booster and master cylinder? And if you were able to use the original brake pedal? If not, what pedal set up would work? Thanks. Spring is almost here and I want to have the conversion done before it's time to start driving it this year. Thanks!

    Hi.

check out my thread on the oldsmobile conversion I am doing, as far as I know your Poncho uses the same parts. I have a few issues that I'm talking with Scarebird about.

HOWEVER, I used the 8" dual diaphragm and 1 1/8" booster from speedway. I'm not familiar with the poncho brake pedal setup, but the olds has the tredelvac originally so the pedal is swinging , but I couldn't make it work with the speedway setup, so I ended up using a junkyard pedal setup.

I can send you some photos of my setup if your interested, just pm me your email address.

just to clarify I haven't fitted the disc setup as yet as I can't get it sorted , but I did go ahead and fit the booster MC.

Hi flatoz, hanks for the info. I am interested in your setup if you could send me the photos that would be great! My email is temerson@msad37.org My 56 has a swinging pedal but I'm not sure if it is the same as the 55-57 Chevy's? From what you've found probably not. I can get access to junkyard parts if necessary as well.
