A buddy of mine is a '28-'29 Model A pickup freak, I'll ask him about it... I think he has a couple.

I believe that the High Window was in the Early 1928 Model A. I had one with the High Window. It's been 15 years since I've had that Truck and my memory isn't what it used to be.

(Too much Imron without the proper mask) !!!!!

I talked to my buddy Otto, and he said what you have is rare. They only made those in 1928. In 1928 they didn't have any closed cab pickups, only closed cab AA big trucks. If a customer came in and wanted a pickup, the factory would take a closed cab from a big truck and put it on the roadster pickup chassis for him.

The high window was so you could see over your load on the big trucks. Otto said they are terrible if you put it on a pickup because you can't see very well out of them like you can a regular pickup cab because the window is so high. There is one even more rare than the one you have...it had a FORD script embossed above the rear window on the very early 1928 cabs.

The high window is one of the peculiarities of early '28 Fords known as AR production. Somewhere during '28 the window was lowered to the more common height. Lookup AR and you will find other oddities like beavertail rear fenders, parking brake levers on the left side, smooth splash aprons, and a dozen other rare parts.

I have a 1929 CCPU, with the "regular height" rear window. Either way, high or regular, it's pretty much useless as a rear window. So, in short, use it, if it makes you happy.

  13. Sell it to a restorer. The repops on the regular windows are great, and a restorer will appreciate your thoughtfulness.

And yes, those Ford-embossed high-window panels are extremely rare.

  14. Yes AR is rare. Like you said, left e brake, single drum tailite, front fenders where different to as the headlites etc.
Never seen a real hi window thou.

That looks like a 30 or 31 sedan cut down into a pickup cab.

Yes, they were an early style that was not all that well received.
I was told that most of these panels were run out on the AA truck cabs.
Always looked wrong in my book.

  20. The panel was used from Feb 28 thru June of 28. 5 months I'd say that's rare Not early enough to be AR though.
