ive got a 1952 chevrolet truck with a 230 or a 250, its not the original motor.

im trying to turn the motor over by hand but the crank pulley has no bolt to get a wrench on it.

how do i go about turning th motor over by hand.

also, i belive the motor is stuck, this is why im trying to do it by hand.

  2. A rubber belt strap wrench?? Don't know if you have one around, but, I'd throw mine on the crank pulley and give it a try.

Prybar on the flywheel teeth, or a flywheel turning tool if there's room.

2 bolts in the harmonic balancer where the pully mounts, and a bar between them.

Pull the spark plugs out, you should be able to turn it by hand

be patient with trying to free the motor. i have unstuck a few, by squirting loosener fluids [insert your favorite here] and gently prying on the flywheel- every day, once in the morning once before i went home. once it breaks free work it back and forth gently till it makes a full revolution. #6 cylinder is usually the culprit due to the fact condensation runs down the intake toward the back.

If it's a standard trans put it in high gear and rock the truck.

That works, take the plugs out to make sure you don't "hydraulic" the motor!
