Fuel tank change

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by papawfalcon, Feb 16, 2013.

  1. I have a Ford that I am using a s-10 blazer tank in . I want to retain the stock gauges. I know I could use a metal plate and cut a smaller hole in to make a '60's ford sending unit fit is there a better way. I am using a carburator. Or replace the stock gague with a chevy look a like? Thanks,Ken

Have you tested to see if the sending unit in the tank will work with your gauge,,it should be easy to check out.

Just pull the sending unit and run a wire to the gauge and check. HRP

Most'a the early FoMoCo fuel senders/gauges are 70-10; they need 70 ohms of resistance ta' read empty and 10 ohms ta' read full.

Dunno' about the S-10 though, aren't all most GM's 0-90?

  6. Well, it is a '62 Ranchero. Several reasons for this tank.I know the orignal tank MAY or MAYNOT clear dual exhaust. But for some reasons I liked this tank better.

If ya' can make the replacement sender for the original Ranchero tank work in the S-10 tank (with mods), I'd go for it....personally, I lack the skills ta' do that.
