Well, just got home at 1:08. We had a 2.5 hour drive back home from the hedge thicket where the old 32 was hiding. I realized that my licence had expired,so my wife drove home since cops were out. I got to the mans house at 1:20 and at 9:30 he finally told me to make him an offer. I told him that I didnt want to,but he would not even pretend to start. He basically told my wife and I that we had to start somewhere, and we had to find the place to start. I looked at my wife and before I could say anything, she said " I will give you 1000.00 for it. You told me to start, so I did." He immediately replied, "Is that all you can pay?" She said " Yes, so what would it take to buy it since you told me to start" He replied "It would take 2 to 300 more." She said "how about 1200.00 and a crawfish boil for you next Saturday." He stood up and shook both our hands!!! I had a headache immediately because I was so anxious to get this done. I can say that I now own a 32 Coupe. Needs some work, but I am honored to do it the way that it deserves.

I also found out that he got banned from driving it on campus when he was in college. He came around a curve on campus and almost hit the president who was crossing the road. They made him park it, so he then drove a 66 Chevelle.

When he drove it, the 32 was in full red oxide primer with black steel wheels. It had a 4 speed trans. and a 3 deuce 327. He pulled that combo to go into a 55 Chevy that he sold. What I found out today, was that he had a 302 SBF ready to put into it before he was drafted. Its sitting beside the car now. Its a c8 block,so it may even be a 289. Anyway, I really want to build it as close to the way that he had. It would do the car justice I believe. The parallel rear leaf springs are interesting, so that would be something to consider. I promised to take him for a ride in it one day.

Ok, please explain the crawfish boil, I'd like to use this line if a '32 Ford (or any other car) deal pops up. Congratulations one one of the greatest '32 Ford find and buy stories ever to hit the HAMB. Bob

Well, when we got there ; they were frying fish and we told them that we were going to boil crawfish soon since it was season for them. They all liked crawfish, so my wife who's family is from Eunice , Louisiana; told them about her "**** *** space ship". It is a really nice cooker designed for crawfish boiling.

We are going to pick it up next weekend. I will take plenty of pics then and keep everyone posted. The people who owned the car were really nice and offered to let us stay the night. I really do believe that they sold us the 32 because we spent the day with them and made them understand that we wanted to save the cars life. They have a 51 Chevy P/U that Im bringing back too. It needs new cab corners and bed floors. They have it running after sitting up for 10 years, so I offered to work on it for them.
Im really excited about the whole experience. Im picking up a 32 frame jig Monday, along with a set of ASC 32 rails for my 30 Tudor. A friend of mine introduced me to a man last week who built 32 ch***is for years. He still has a 32 jig, 33-34 jig, and a 36 to 41 jig. He is letting me use it for as long as I need since he is retired. After the tudor is done, I will start the rust repair on the 32.

Really looking forward to seeing more pictures,..... And one word of advice. I know it's sentimental to build it back to the way he had it... And I would totally agree with a famous or well known car,....... But you should build "Your dream" out of it...... IMHO

I agree. I still have a while to decide. He didnt have a pic of it from when he drove it. I found this pic that may be pretty close to what he described.

Holy hell, dude! 1200? Congrats on the purchase, and I hope the seller doesn't call the cops on you for stealing it! Haha. Can't wait to see the pix!!!

  22. Unreal.. thats a find of a lifetime mate! The body looks in really good shape considering where its been sitting.. don't know if its been mentioned but looks like it has had firewall mounted master cylinders as well.

Definitely throw up a build thread for it ASAP when you bring it home!

That set of pictures has caused several strokes and potentially fatal heart problems in some of our older comrades. Get that car and save it before you kill off half the existing members of the HAMB!

Well,my good luck continued today. Found a 40 Ford Sedan and a 51 Ford P/U with a running flathead. Got them both for basically s**** prices. The 40 will have some great parts for the 32.
