  1. I can't wait to see the end result, I love 40's, but usually don't like them chopped, but I'll have to wait to see the finished product to see if that holds True!

I'm with you on you reason for painting it the way you have chosen, I've got a couple of shinny Hot Rods, but my "flat" and none perfect 40 pickup is the one that gets driven the most, 20,000 miles a year, mostly because I don't have to clean it as often or worry about it as much!

Now get to work so I can see the end result!

BTW, tell me more about your truck, motor, ch***is, and whatever else comes to mind.

I like em either shiny or satin---- old shop truck is on my wish list. Found a 41 ford in a buddy's shop with the flathead out of it-looked to be original paint. Trying to talk him out it.looks like yours is gonna be nice

I have to be honest, I cant say I'm in love with where you're going with it. There was a time when I loved the faked patina, I guess I'm just over it. I don't hate it, it's just not for me. I am looking forward to seeing the end results though. I do top notch show quality work every day. One of the most fun jobs I ever did was a patina job, just cause it was something different I guess.
Also, just throwing this out there, if there ever was a place for a faked patina it'd definitely be on a shop truck type build.

Truck is looking good. Do what you want man. Who cares what strangers on the internet think of your build.

Everyone is en***led to their opinion,,I don't understand going through all the work involved in painting and not addressing the body work,,I will wait to see the finished product ,,HRP

Not my cup of tea but if you like the 1960 Schieb's $100 paint job look just proves different strokes for different folks.

    Amen brother.

  11. I like it so far. Hope to see it at the Blossom Run this year. A couple of you mentioned the the worn out shop truck look is played out. You gotta consider where he lives. Believe me, the look is not played out. If he drives it all summer he'd be lucky to see even one other "worn out" shop truck.
Can't wait to see the finished product.

Saw a guy at a swap meet last year that had an old Studebaker Pickup. Paint was a little different to say the least. Got to talking to him and he said he had painted it yellow then brown then flat black. Then sat it in the driveway and coated it with oven cleaner and let it set overnight. Hosed it off with a water hose the next morning. Instant old looking paint job. Believe it or not.

Finally Finished! Still have to tell the wife about her new nickname! I figured that it is easier to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission!:D

i think you had better ,be looking for a divorce lawyer, because you may think it's cool, pretty sure your ol lady won't, or she at least ,won't be cruisin with you, you will be down the road all by yourself. I personally don't think it's cool at all !!have a little respect !:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Welcome to that certain percentage of the Hambs 'brethren'. ;)

Either you fit in, or you are soon shown where the door is, metaphorically speaking of course.

i dig it.. cool colors.. but gotta admit.. seeing it all shiny with the wet paint looked REAL nice.. but i like the overall theme and look of the truck..not something you see everyday...very cool.

  26. Looks Kool, not sure about the name on the door, but the truck looks good, you'll have lots of fun in it!

Actually I have a ton of respect for my wife and I did show her last night. She is cool with it and laughed as she does have a sense of humor unlike some people. My wife is very refined and as such makes this statment somewhat of an oxy*****! Thanks for the input though.:p

I like it except for the foul language on the side. Why must people put such language on the side of their vehicle??
