headlights , have dodge on far side and a guide on nearside with 38 chevy lens , just playing, think im going to make a recess for light bucket to sit in . ever see a early dodge truck? but not welding to fender just making a nest. Photoshop looks like a Anglia
we are all lucky Cole posts here. I am going to print that shot of the door and put it in my garage. I am going to mount a stick to my baseball hat tomorrow and hang that picture in front of me like a carrot! Fuck dude. that's all I have to say about that.
Boys (and girls), Take a close look at that decklid and compare it to an original. Ask Cole about that BEAUTIFUL and PERFECT grille. Find out what that car really started out as. Watch what he does with those headlights. Better yet, get your ass to his shop and take a closer look. Then lower your head, realize that you're not worthy, accept the fact that every little detail has been thoroughly thought out and that everything you see on that car is exactly as it should be, and slowly back out of his shop like one of 17 wives out of the master's bedroom. Jesus Cheeerist, for once just spend your time asking how he did it instead of telling him how he could start making it better. The worst part is, Cole is nice enough of a guy to actually make you feel like he's listening to you.
Is that the K.H. Ford you were working on back about 6 months ago? Or a different one? Or are my wires crossed ? Regardless, that truly gives us a level of workmanship to aspire to......
Thanks guys ,stoner . Its totally cool to say whatever anyone wants, my employee's friends, I always listen. sometimes other people can see someting I missed or miss judged. I have the last word and have done things that nobody thought was right and pulled it off . glad you guys like the pics, car hasnt changed a ton from earlier shots but everey thing is getting mounted bolted ,welded. not just mocked up. hood has about two inches in front stock in rear (pied) looking forward to interior , I mounted steering coloum last week. steering wheel.

That car deserves a mile deep coat of blackm, shiny, shiny, shiny. Red leather interior, no holds barred.
If it was indeed a 5 window I would like to see some "how to" pics. This is tech week after all! My buddy has a 36 hudson Coupe that he was thinking of turning into a 3 window. They are somewhat similar in shape.
What can you say that hasn't already been said. That style of custom really does it for me. Let's see some before pics. We truly aren't worthy!!!
I'm thinkg Mercedes lights in the fenders... cough, cough, cough, or maybe two headlights stacked behind the grille would look cool... fffffffffffffffffffffpt.... h-e-a-r.......... ahhhhhhhh... or maybe use some of those bright-ass Honda-spider-Monkey Yer-oh lights down in those little ho'.... ffffffffffffffffffffffff.......................aaaahhhhhhhhh 'oles... yea, yer-oh lights in those little holes... ha'hahaha'hehehehe... that'd work "G"... cough, cough, cough... oh, man... you sure do have a purty mouth cole... hey, do you want to go get some Taco Bell?? I'm hungry... Sam.
Hey Cole, speaking as a guy who just put in a long day at work, freezing my ass off, it was a real pleasure to see your post and to view your work. The highlight of my day so far. Thanks Chris
cool. new guys like me can never see enough in-progress shots. So what type of welder do you use most on the sheetmetal bodywork? what a trip I just got got issue 2 of Garage in the mail and was reading it last night and saw you and this ride in there. Excellent. Stoner, I just ordered issue 3 so I can finish reading about the moonshiners.
Cole, How 'bout some more pictures of that scoot? It's nice to see a big name builder putting together a Harley that doesn't have a NINJA-SIZED rear tire. I like what I see. Ed
Cole: Oh man, you're screwing the thing up big-time. You gotta get some Mercedes E-class headlights frenched into the fenders, the grille needs to be machined from billet strontium, and that bare metal needs to be covered up ASAP. I know in that rendering the thing's black, but that's totally, totally wrong. You need to paint the thing hot pink and then have Himsl do some crazy, garish flame job. Then I'm thinkin' you find some early Nineties Boyds to replace those horrid steelies. I mean, it'll be a nice nostalgic element, after all that '80s nostalgia thing is already played, with the acceleration of culture it's only a matter of time before 90s nostalgia kicks in; you'll be ahead of the curve, boyo. And dude, that steering wheel is lame. Have you seen those ones now that're aluminum but they look like they're made out of polished silver fire? You *totally* need one of those. Have you given any consideration to back-halving the thing? Maybe taking it in a pro-street direction? And lose the skirts. Skirts are for trannies and Scotsmen. So unless you wanna put plaid pink triangles on 'em, ditch the suckers. And dude, fuck the 302. You've gotta get an LS1 in there or I'm pretty sure you'll never *ever* get to do a SEMA project car. Oh, and you should stop doing your own work, too. Start having Barry White build all of your cars for you. You *obviously* have no clue what you're doing pal. I mean, I still like you and all, but if it's romance you're after, I swear...if you finish that car the way you're going with it, your girlfriend's totally gonna leave you and Metallica's gonna make a video where they blow the thing up. Just trying to steer you in the right direction and spare you the heartache... Rock. Dave.
I agree it will be a shame to paint that and hide all that unfucking real metalwork. For all the newer guys, yes, it definitely started as a 5 window. I was noticing that decklid area before I got to Stoner's post and it is pretty amazing. Cole, did you build that steering wheel as well? Very nice interpretation of the banjo. I hate winter. Now I'm depressed that my '36 is on hold for a few months.
Hey Cole, That car is BAD MOTHERF*&KING ASS! Kirk is a damn lucky guy. Thought I'd toss my idea for headlights in...even though I'm sure you thought of it already. How about a pair of '47 Chev truck buckets? French in the lens and make the lens small and flat like E&J with a tint. Red would be cool but against the law I'm sure. Maybe blue...Make a rounded edge to meet the lens 1" inside the bucket. Trim the bucket to flow on the fender, then stretch the bucket to flow about 6" longer then stock. Been done but you can put that Cole spin on it. Here is a pic of kinda what I mean. Just my $.02 of an idea... Thanks Cole for the pix!!!
you rule... is that the car you're building for K.H. up here in sonoma county? he told me he's got one in the works with ya'll... nic
Happy B-day Dave,Good Party?! been messing with head lights , gunna wait a bit ,and let the car tell me what it wants. Yes this is Kirks car, Told James ,he will be so ruled by Kirk's 36 the band will break up for sure. LOL
Well, I can't say anything that aint already been said, so I'll just say thanks for posting it (ok, that's been said to). But damn... I just love bare metal. Especially when it's as slippery and smooth of a custom as that. I'm blown away by the understated beauty. Excellent work! I hope you'll continue to keep us up to date on this one.
james just picked up a '53 skylark convertible... it rules. needs a little TLC but... then there's always the bucket.maybe you can put your magic touch on it. nic
