so, i am rebuilding my carburetor (again) and this time around, i have no shop to use the parts cleaner in. this is fine, except i can't find bulk carb cleaner ANYWHERE - only the chintzy aerosol cans that have like ten ounces in them and are no good for dipping anyway. so, does anyone know where i can get about a gallon of carb cleaner, or, failing that, a decent subs***ute for it? i have found laquer thinner and acetone all over the place - will this work, or does it leave a residue? oh, the carb is an edelbrock performer, aluminum body. thanks!
you ain't gonna find **** in calif., I use berkebile 2+2 gum cutter and it says right on the label that it is illegal to posses in calif, nix on shipping to the left coast either.
Yotta be able to get Chemtool in 1 and 5 gallon sizes, even in LALA land. If you got NAPA stores out there, give 'em a shot.
Yamaha makes some stuff you mix with water and heat a bit I comes in plastic bottles like oil ....... most of the dealers around here don't carry it but it's good stuff!!!
I bought a 5 gallon can of McKays carb cleaner at a NAPA shop 6 months ago. That store (Huntington Beach, CA) still stocks it. There's actually only 3 gallons of solvent inside. Regards, Mark
