Anyone have any actual experience in cutting and rejoining hard line aluminum AC tubing. I think the correct term is solder, since the parent metal is not melted. What type of rod or wire is used? Is a flux used?

I do it all the time, I like the look and tighter bends I can get with hard lines. I get my supplies from Doc's Blocks, the hard line, fittings and special solder. Very easy to use, too. No separate flux in his stuff, but it might be "mixed in". His fittings already have swaged ends to make it easier, too.

I know people who have TIG welded aluminum AC tube. I'm not that good and never will be. I have flared it and used appropriate fittings. I have done that quite a bit and never had a problem. Shops seriously into AC have catalogs with all sorts of fittings, elbows, hose crimps, etc.
