Hi from the UK, Im Tim. I live just north of Bedford, England. Been looking in on the HAMB for a while now and find myself looking in more and more, so I thought I'd take the plunge and make it official. Currently building a 1955 Sit Up 'n' Beg Ford Popular (Anglia) original "I" Beam on a 4 bar set-up converted to Volvo Hubs, Disks with 4 pot Callipers. At the rear is a Volvo 244 GLT axle on a 4 bar set-up. Power comes from a Rover SDi 3500cc V8 (Baby Buick) with a 5 speed manual box. Steels on the front and Alloys on the back. I'm working outside, got no garage so progress is very weather dependant. Build up thread, 7 years worth, is on the UK NSRA Forum if anyones interested... http://www.nsra.org.uk/newforum/showthread.php?t=19068 Thats me about done. Thanks for your time.
Welcome to the Hamb from a former Limey. I recognize your name from the NSRA UK forum. I lurk there occasionally. Your car looks really good.
Thanks for the warm welcome lads, and for your comments Captain. Think I'm gonna like it here. Cheers. Tim W.
Welcome Tim from a former Manchester lad now living the American dream in beautiful Richmond Virginia, Took a look at the link nice fab work heavy duty stuff is Volvo the preferred kit for the Ford pop world? God bless you working outside in the UK climate I feel your pain brother, nice work looking forward to seeing more. cheers Paul
Good to meet you Paul, my Mum came from Stretford just near Moss Side and my Aunt lived in Salford, small world mate. Cheers. Tim W.
Once the weather gets on my side a bit I'll post a continuation build thread but for now, some photos of the story so far... I know it's on the wrong side!! Cheers. Tim W.
Hey, you put your pedals and steering wheel on the wrong side of the car! ;-) I just came into possession of a 1985 Rover 3.5 V8 for my '29 Ford sedan, so I may be consulting with you occasionally. Seems it's the British equivalent of our small block Chevy - a jillion of them made and they get swapped into everything over there.
I dont understand why you say the steeringwheel is on the wrong side. I have allways belived that you got the steeringwheel on the right side.
As A32Flathead says they're everywhere over here. Yeah, nice one. Thanks for the welcome and for taking the time to look at it. Cheers. Tim W.
