I need some advice/help guys....I am using a 2" suicide front end set up from speedways. It runs good till I get up to about 60-65 then the front end starts to shimmey and tramp up and down. I have reset the toe in umpteen times and that does'nt help. The kingpins lay back about 8 degrees. What are some other obvious things to look for?...You can see the car at www.msnusers.com/streetroadster .....thanks bigticket

  2. Have a buddy whose car does something like that- his starts bouncing from about 50 mph. Took too many leaves out of his front spring/ no weight on the front. We're going to start by replacing the spring altogether.

Dunno why this is, but that speed is the harmonic where most tires bounce. If you got the guts, try to roll past that speed - if the shimmy goes away - it's the tires. make sure the tires are dynamically balanced; the prob should go away.

Another possibility are the wheel bearings. Make sure you have a wee bit of preload on them (zero lash) or you'll get the same result.

You could try to adjust your caster to 5 degrees (adjust your upper clevis on your radius rods). Then make sure your toe-in is a maximum of 1/8th inch (if you have bias ply tires. For radials go to 0 to 1/8th inch toe-out. Also make sure both tires have as close to the same pressure as possible. Hope this helps.

I've never seen a shock set-up quite like yours before, how did you come about that?
