I'm having a bit of a brake line dilema..
Here is what i'm building... A full fendered 1930 Model A pick up truck.. 324 olds, t5 trans, 58/59 9".... Stock exhaust... 40 juice brakes up front..the goal is to build the truck within the date range of the engine and rear.. So late 50's... It will.also be my daily driver..

My dilema is a front brake line issue... I got some great feedback on how to deal with my clearance issue, as well as my game plan to.plumb the truck..
Basically drill a couple of holes in the frame to run my front brake lines. i marked and drilled the holes to run the lines through...

The dilema lies in my exicution of said plan... I have a pete &jakes frame mount pedal assembly.. The rear lines turned out great..i used 3/16 brake line..

The front i ran 3/16 line out of the master, and to the residual (10lb) valve, and 1/4 line out..I had to do this becouse as you know 40 brakes use 1/4 line... The problem is that the only place to put the t fitting is under the motor mount.. It fits and looks great, but by doing this i will have to run a 90° bend to my brake hose, basically 1/4 line doesnt bend to a tight radius, and it hangs too far down under the frame rail.. It looks.like shit... I tried bending up a 3/16 90°, and its more or less the same thing... There isnt much room to mwork with up there... the frame is boxed to the front cross member... And the motor mount is where it is.. A through frame fittings would work , but no one seems to make a inverted flare fitting that will work with a boxed frame... Or does such a fitting excist?? At this point i think my only viable solution is to run AN from the residual valve through the holes in the frame to through frame fittings(i have some) .. Then accross to other wheel... Going this route all i need is some AN fittings, line, and have my brake hoses made to accept AN, on the frame side...

I am open to suggestions....so if ya have them lets here em..

Side note. I want to avoid using a gang of fittings, some of wich i sure dont even excist!
Nor do i want to drill holes in my frame so i can use the brake hose as its intended to be used(as a bulk head)

I know problem solving is 99% of building anything... And my lack of experience (first ground up build) didnt give me the forsight to see this coming... part of me feels like im giving up by using AN , the other part feels like ya have to choose your battles...

I appogize for this long winded post!!!!

They offer a couple sizes, and I recommend you get extra fittings with them, they have 2 90 degree and 2 Tee's with them.

I have bought 3 sets, 2 sets are on my project and work flawlessly, the other set I am going to use for air lines on the same O/T project. No bleeding issues at all.

  9. You could have just run all 3/16", no need for the 1/4"

Tman... originally i was trying to use stock parts, and the brake hoses are 1/4 IF, and to my knowledge (called dorman, and parker) no one makes a reducer bushing to go from 1/4 to 3/16...

with these through frame fittings i certainly will be running 3/16 the whole way... either way i go i'll need to get brake hoses made up...

plus i really like the look of of through frame fittings... a much cleaner look than tabs and bulk heads...

that fitting still doesn't solve the issue .... the through frame fitting however does-

but thanks for passing the info along... I checked with Napa as well.. dug through their books.. found nothing.. and that's when i stopped looking.. figure if dorman, parker, and Napa didn't have it no one made it-

    thanks-

here are some photo's... yes it's after the fact, but perhaps they will help someone else..

the first is a photo of the area mentioned... with a 1/4 line..

the second photo is where the through frame fitting will live, basically right
where the front bolt for the original lever shock is -

thanks for all of your help guys..
