Are they the same? I found a hood on craigslist for a good price but its from a 65. Was there any differences in the 63 and the 65's in the hoods that would cause issues with fitment?

Sorry for the stupid question, but I want to make sure before I make the 2.5 hour drive to pick it up.

Thank you. I know they look to be the same, but I would like to be positive before I drive down there.

OK Greaser: NO. They are not the same although they look identical. The 63 Riv has a tri-shield emblem at the point with a fin in the middle of the spear. The 64 and 65 have a "R" bomb site and a concave hood spear. 63 hood is different. The 64 and 65 have a larger hole in the hood center peak to accommodate the fastener for that bomb site. They all fit except that the 63 spear will only fit a 63 hood as a 64 and 65 spear fit a 64 or 65 hood. Are you confused yet? Mitch

Yea defiantly confused, but I rolled out of bed this morning that way. lol Yea I figured the trim would be different. I was more concerned with fitment. Having everything back to original from the factory is not a big deal to me, but I dont want to buy something that isnt going to line up or look like crap.
So in your opinion, could the 65 hood work on my 63? Could the trim on the hood be interchanged on the hoods?

the hoods will fit all 3yrs BUT if you try to swap fenders you will have some problems . the 65's are longer to allow for the clam shells

OK Greaser: Before painting the hood I would test fit the spear. Mitch

hey greaser all 3 years will fit...i had to put a 63' hood on my 64' and a dye grinder will make the trim fit perfict just go slow so you dont over size the trim hole..also..the biggest thing to look out for on the riviera hoods is the front edge obove the "v" trim..they never made drain holes and they all rust out mine off my 64 was so bad it was unrepairable and the supposed good 63 i got after soda blasting took about 12hrs to repair ..i had to replace almost all the metal between the leading edge and above the "v" trim..a big job even if you know how to do metal work...if you need any advise or places to get parts give me a yell i just finished my 64' last september...good luck..ROB
