What are you building? If it is a model A, steering column placement plays a big part in foot clearance. If you have size 14s like me, you realize quick that an automatic is the way to go. Good luck and post pics. Just remember if you are uncomfortable sitting in it in your garage you won't feel any better on a long trip.

Yep. I made a cut out in the tunnel for my foot.
Kinda tough to see in this pic, sorry it's the only one i have.
Worked for my set up. All depends on if you have room under the tunnel though.

You don't have anything in there. What does not fit? Floor and tunnel should be last. Build the floor around the pedal and column placement. Otherwise, you'll do it twice. Build the floor, take it out to put in pedals and column, and modify or build a new floor again.

Notch it, gun the gas, pop the clutch & be done with it. The biggest adjustment is between the ears..you'll get used to it very fast.

Through the floor pedal are tight in all up to about 35. You might consider swing pedals with firewall mount master cylinder.

may just ditch the 6sp for an automatic. dont want to build something i hate to drive.

  9. The gas peddle on the hump is common on the smaller cars like an A or a T.

Something else that you used to see in the '50s and '60s on backyard built cars (like most cars back then) was a swing peddle for the clutch and brake though the floor.

There are a lot of good idea for you peddle arrangement on this thread just choose whatever one works best fot you.

You are sacrificing a lot of foot room with the square tunnel you made on the metal brake. Try making a round one with a slip roller or something.

Marfen is spot-on. I have a left-over rounded hump from my T-56 for my 37 Dodge P/U if your interested. Mine is fully rounded but I did it becuase I think squared-off edges look so out of place on early cars that have almost no square edges anywhere.

An auto trans would take up more room...

    How big are your feet?!

You have TONS of room in there!

I am wondering about the same thing. Channeled '26 T with a t-5, its going to be tight, especially if I go with floor pedals. I was looking very closely at the photos in TRJ of the Kelly Brown car, some food for thought there.

  14. Not hardly,,we have built three 32 pickups and the transmission tunnel in two of the trucks with 350 turbos takes up less room than the 5 speed transmission.

Foot room,,heck room period is minimal in the 32-34 pickups.HRP

Center of pedal pad 7" off floor, brake pedal should swing as close to bell housing as practical. floor tunnel should fit as close to trans as you can get away with.

looks like i will be able to get column up enough to put pedal pads to the left of the stems. with that and i will work on my tunnel should give me enough room. that will be good i didnt really want to go auto.
