I'm looking for a really bright metallic gloss red for accents on my 55 chevy truck.
The base color will be satin black, with red stripes coming off the contour of the headlights back to a point along the line of the fender with some striping on the rear fenders and cab as well. I did a search on google and found alot of nice reds but didn't find any names to go with them, so lets see some pics! :)

  2. PT cruiser has one, as do most newer cars. Be advised that red is very expensive, so be prepared to spend a lot on color alone.

Yeah your right reds are really expensive, I should only need a quart or so though, its just for accents.

Toyota has a color called Barcelona Red Metallic on their new stuff that is really bright. Might hit up a dealership and get a paint code off of one.

If not that, get a House of Kolor catalog and pick out a hue. It will be expensive though.

The gorgeous Alfa Romeo 8C has an equally gorgeous bright metallic red I have seen in the flesh. The code may be Ross Miro Pearl 176A however the is a three stage paint. The Alfa 8C is available as a scale model from several sources - Bburago probably being the best if you want to have it color matched....

or you could simply go with good old fashioned and traditional HOK candy apple red as seen on Big John Mazmanian's racers - thanks for the 'loan' of the photo Rocky....

Thanks for the ideas. That alfa romeo color is freakin awesome but probably a little out of my price range. :) I like the 2013 exploder color too, I think Ill check out the HOK website and find that candy apple red or maybe just a few shades lighter if I can.

  10. The HOK Red (or any Candy color) will change depending on your base color. Silver will give you a lighter shade than a Gold base color.

Back in the day G.M. had a metallic red called Firethorn. It had a little orange in it and was very sharp. Would look good with black. Probably a 70's or 80's color.
