I'm interested in a 56 Ford COE that needs a windshield. The chances of finding another windshield from another COE is probably next to impossible, and I've seen in a cl***ified ad for a 55 COE that had damaged doors and roof that the person was selling a f-100 cab with it to use tops of doors and roof from it. Will that work for a 56? Thanks
The '53 thru '55 F series trucks share the same cab design which used a simple curved gl*** with slanted w/s pillars. For '56 models several changes were made to the basic configuration which was most noticeable in the windshield shape. The '56 used a "wrap around" w/s design and the upper door frame was very different. So, if I understand your question correctly, no the '55 parts will not work on your '56, unless you grafted the upper cowl/roof to your cab and used the '55 doors as well. That would be an extremely labor intensive way to get a new windshield. To the best of my knowledge, the windshield in your '56 COE is the same as any other '56 F series cab and should be available, though '56 is a one year only item. Ray
Thanks Ray. After reading my post, it does look like I was asking if a 55 would work, but it obviously wouldn't. I was just referencing that I've seen someone suggest that a 55 c-series and f-series windshields and roofs were the same and wondering if the same goes for a 56. Thanks again. Getting a little excited now!!
I'm working on a C 600 now,as posted above its a one year only truck, but most of the pickup parts fit, doors also of you want to cut the fender curve into them and move the hinge, I've got a 56/57 parts book that covers the 100 to 600 models it helps for cross reference.
^^^^^^^ good to hear. I will be looking at it on Sunday. We're can I find that parts catalog? Thanks.
I got mine on ebay, there was another one of the same there also, I believe it was blue and white covering 56/57 model years from 100's to 600's, also panels and parcels.
