Its a nice 1/8 mile track. The weather should be sweet. They're running a weekend event so racers can jump in on Saturday and get dialed in for Sunday.

I agree Tim it should a great time.

Getting some of the peices we need to finish the new motor would be helpful. We hope to have it on the dyno next month sometime.

Sounds like its gonna be a fun time. The Y-Block crowd is a first class group to be around. I have been to a bunch of the other Y-Block racing events and have always been glad I went.

Anyone who can make it needs to go an support this new West Coast Event!

Barona is an NHRA track so basic NHRA rules apply. Helmets, battery secured, coolant overflow, seat belts etc.. Obviously if the car/truck is fast enough roll cages and certifications start coming into play.
The casino is about 5-6 miles down the road. They have a hotel you can stay at. Its bit expensive but definitley the closest. Other hotels would be about 20 minutes or so away.
Anyone who is setup for it can camp at the track for free.

The SHOOTOUT will be a bracket race to accomodate the variety of cars. This event will be incorporated into a two day SUMMIT event that is being held at the track. Jumping in on Saturdays racing and tuning wouldn't hurt.
We'll be doing a dinner for participants.
John Hildebrand will chime in next week some time with more details right now were in BIG 3 swapmeet mode.

Were hoping for a good turnout. So Cal could use some Y block culture. Were working on good effort to campaign out west.
I would like to see the West Shootout grow into an annual event and don't see any reason it shouldn't.

The guys at Robi's Repair threw down some big numbers with their turbocharged F-100 4x4. Over 700HP and 800TQ to the ground.
Never thought I'd see the day when when the drag car guys had to worry about what the truck guys were up to:D.

2 months to go. We still have to get some parts in that were supposed to be here 2 weeks ago.
Hopefully at the end of this week.

Socal Pete just put up John Hildebrands info on his thread.

Got the welder fired up today, working on a new intake manifold creation. I was watching an episode of the Munsters and got inspired.

Finally a little progress. Event posters and t-shirts are printed up. Hell even got some of the engine parts. Well see if we can get some trial runs at the Antique Drags.

First look at the posters for the Shootout
    small poster.JPG
A poster doesn't make an event. It takes people there having a good time with their old Fords.

    Hey all,
Bob Martin from the Midwest Yblock shootout just sent $25.00 as a bounty on my (John Hildebrand) head for anyone who takes me out during the race. Than means you could earn some money for coming down.:)

    JW,
Towing from vegas is about 5 1/2 hours. I go your way when I race at The Strip. Hope you can make it down for the weekend. There'll be racing on Saturday before the shootout on Sunday. And free camping at the track starting Friday.

    Unibidyguy,
I just got email from Ernie Phillips in the midwest. He added $50.00 to the $25.00 bounty on me. He also is sending a $100.00 bounty on Mummert if someone takes him out of the race. This is getting interesting and could be profitable for some who does well at the race.

  26. SoCal Pete .. I'm lost, isnt Barona on the rez outside Lakeside? Where I'm thinking Ramona is a long uphill drive from there.

Either way, sounds like a blast.

Barona is sits in between lakeside and Ramona as the crow flys. 67 highway goes around Barona. The drive from the backside of Barona (where the track sits) to Ramona is only about 10 minutes

    Hi all Yblockers,
I have attached the Yblock racer profile to this post. If you are coming to the race please fill out the profile info and email it back to me at: jhildebr@cox.net. It will be used to determine the categories for the prizes and to give the announcer some "talking points" on the racers. You may send this to any of your Yblock friends that might be interested.
    Thanks,
    John Hildebrand

Interesting news. The FE boys want to jump in on the event. It looks like well be running a y block bracket and an FE bracket. The winner of each bracket will face off for King of the Vintage Iron.
