I have a 63 belair with a 230 and a three speed. I does not start. It will start fine if I jump the solenoid. I replaced the ignition switch. My buddy had the same problem and it fixed it on his 63. The po was not so bright. The starter looks new. Where should I start? I have to have the key on to start in with the jumper so the switch is doing something. I looked at the wiring diagram and I don't see anything wrong.

Problem solved. Car came without a battery, so I was unaware of a wire from the battery to the horn relay. It is supposed to be red, it is black.

Wasnt the wire to the relay made into the positive cable. It would have been black then.

I think the positive battery cable has been replaced with one that has no separate lead. The wiring diagram shows it should be red, but it is black. I need to replace it again, though, as it is not quite long enough to sit in its proper place. I will get one with a lead on it.
