Cigarette smoke.

Not exactly Hamb related. Has any one found a good way to get cigarette smoke off windows other than replaceing them.

Simple green. I don't smoke but I do cook, and when I do it usually involves smoke, and simple green gets it off the cabinets.

If it is regular glass, a strong glass cleaner (Windex or similar) should work. You may want to "fortify" it with some additional ammonia. Of course, since it is "smoked glass", you could just leave it and forgo tints. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

 

Newspaper. Glass cleaner and newspaper. No lint, and rough enough to get that browm scum off.

 

tuff stuff cleans the nasty shit off everything then just reclean the glass with a good window cleaner have at least 2 rolls of papertowels with ya

 

Vinegar, water and newspaper to wipe it off

 

Newspaper, always use newspaper and windex

 

Wet it with your choice of window cleaner and use 0000 steel wool while wet. Wipe dry and clean window again without the steel wool. DONE!

Polishing compound.

 

If all the above doesn't work try using some rubbing compound. Really works great on the outside to get rid of all those water spots......

 

Ammonia diluted with plain water. 50/50 is very strong, but should do it.

0000 steel wool if nothing else works, will get primer overspray, tar and petrified bugs off without scratching

 

Try some undiluted windshield washer solvent concentrate, like GM Opti-Kleen. This has a high enough alcohol content to be flammable. It was used full-strength to clean the inside glass on new vehicles that sometimes had a film on the glass from outgassing from the plastics used in the interiors.

 

I like a stoker product, cal invisible glass, but I also like viniger and newpaper.... I hate the smell of smoke

 

Don't worry, cigarette smoke on car glass was traditional in the 1950's....HAHAHA

It's pretty obvious that three of you guys have never bought a vehicle that someone smoked heavily in for years on end.
I had one truck that looked like someone had put varnish on the dash and windows with a sponge it was so bad. Tough Stuff and a lot of scrubbing took most of it off and all the sudden I had a gray dash.

My dad taught me the newspaper to wipe the windows thing when I was a kid and a friend showed me the trick of using a damp sack of Bull Durham to scrub the windows but that stuff is too expensive now for that.

 

yeah i had a 69 d100 that had a sticky yellowish greenbrown interrior until i got out the tuffstuff after about an hour and 2 rolls of papertowels i could see out the windows and really kinda liked all the pretty lightblue sheetmetal that made up the interrior

i think any kid thats thinking about starting to smoke ought to have to clean the interroir of a smokers car

 

Followed by how to keep em looking sharp and rims shiney
