My first hot rod was a 41, still have a soft spot for them. Mine was 425 olds w/ olds rear end. I think it is still in a junk yard in AZ after the wreck.

Here are some more pics of progress. Cowl mounts repaired and hung a fender to see if my lower cowl repair was going to work. Looks close enough for the crowd I hang with. Thanks for the kind words about my attempts at metal work. I'm still learning.

Keep the pictures coming. See yours makes me want to go work on mine. Working on my 41 chevy coupe and had a couple questions about the hat channels for the floor. did you have those made or did yourself. my hat channel floor supports are rusted at the ends where they attach to inner rockers. debating on using square tubing for floor support to replace hat channel. Did you consider doing this? Any drawbacks?

Got the body off this week end. I can finish up the stuff underneath, paint the frame, and put it back under. I did it by myself. I just slowly lifted one end at a time. I could not get it high enough to just roll the frame out so, I slid it over with a jack, one end at a time until it was free.I held the thing up with the hoist to remove the jack stand on the driver side to get the frame out in the front. I don't have the $$ to do all the ch***is work, so for now, I am just going to paint the frame and bolt the body back on. Here are some pics showing how I did it .

You're doing just fine and at a pace that most of us can relate to. Great job the body removal and bracing. I appreciate the pictures at each stage since I'll be doing this in the near future. I also liked the cowl mount section repairs. How did you weld them back to the cowl once repaired?
    Thanks.

I haven't posted on this in a while. I have been working mainly on getting the underbody primed, seamsealed and coated so I can put it back on the frame. I used epoxy primer, and 3M shutz. The frame was done with por-15 and rustoleum satin. Not 100% sure what is going to happen with front end so, I left it alone. I can still get it done with body on. Have also been working on the rear seat area. That is an early Nova seat frame (if you were wondering)

More progress. I put the body back on the frame. Hopefully for good. All 22 bolts went back in with minimal grief. I also painted the gas tank w/ rattle can satin black. Looks OK, this ain't no show car.

I had a 41 coupe for 18 years, loved that car. Big trunk, large interior space.I got seats out a GM 78-87 A body car. Fit good & very comfy.

I see it has been a while since I posted on this. Been working on the rear fender attaching areas/wheel wells. That is where a lot of serious rust was. The front 1/3 of the driver's side was full of filler to repair rust and wreck damage. I cut stuff of my '48 parts car to patch the '41. I also discovered some bad repair work around the old gas filler hole in the right side. How that damage happened is beyond me but, the fix back then was filler, filler, and more filler. Since I am putting the gas tank under the back, the side fill is no longer needed. I have done more work than shown but, don't have any more pics. More later.

Are you gonna use those inner fenders? I would be interested in them if not.

Update. Had to punt. I sold the car. Lost my work space, was running our of money and decided it was time to cut my losses.
