I was bugging my buddy to give me this motor. He finally took a head off to inspect it. He decided I could have it, haha. I know how you guys love pictures, so here you go.

    Don't believe everything you read:

I'm going to call them up and ask about the warranty, haha.

One of the best (not cracked) flatties I've torn down looked far worse than that one.

I know they are still around. I was going to call the service department and ask about the warranty, and give them the numbers off the tag, haha.

The crazy part is the huge chunks of steel that flaked off the heads. Never seen that before. I have to believe that was under water. I have never seen that much condensation damage.

The valley chamber looks as if it were stored in the river for a few years. Maybe if it was under water, it never froze.

All you need is a few dryer sheets soaked in acetone/atf. That will clean it right up.

So I called them up to mess with a service manager, and maybe even get some info. They were bought by Spradley Barr 2 years ago. Computer system was changed 2 years ago. All records over 4 years old were purged. Only 1 old timer left in the department, and he started in 87, haha.

Oh well. No plans for it currently. It will gather dust until I need it. I'll post if I tear it down any further.

    Cheers!
