I am running a 2.5 crank with 5.7 Crower sportsman rods and the oil ring runs across the lower third piston pin with Diamond pistons with a metric ring package so that's about the limit. You can get spacers if early 2.3 block. Some like to grab the 2.5 caps and use spacer on one side so you know it won't spin. Crower rods are probably a better deal than turning the crank for Chevy rods.
i already have 5.7 h-beam rods and was trying to use those.. and ive come across the diff size mains. but its a 2.5 crank turned to fit the rods is the combo?
They need to be early rods for the 2.0" journals not the later 2.1" The 2.5 crank is $150 and customs are $1500. You might squeeze another .060 in stroke with offset grinding, but that is only 3 cubic inches, although not sure as don't know comparative rod widths. Edit" just checked and the Chevy rods are 6 cylinder which are wider than V8 rods so go with the Crowers.
i did some researching and found racer walsh sells a 2.3 crank turned to fit 5.7 rods... phil u said your running a 2.5 crank correct?
I ran a 2850cc stroker in my off road truck. But it was with Crower Rods. Made right a 300HP with great torque
what kind of combination with the crowler rods did u use? im also running at about 7300 rpm around the track
