I am rebuilding a '48 Ford F-1 pickup that has a '75 Camarro front clip and rear end. I originally bought some chromed steel "sport wheels" and would like to have the option to use a 15" steel wheel for a "stock" look for my pickup. Existing tires are P235-75R15's and I'd like to use them on stock appearing steel wheels. Only catch is I'd also like to use the original standard stock '48 Ford wheel covers with the replacement steel wheels. As per the attached picture, the wheel cover is about 6"-8" in diameter and often is used along with a stainless or chrome "beauty ring" around the outside of the rim. My recollection from my Dad's old '48 F-1 is that there are no clips on the wheel or wheel cover and that the wheel covers are a tight fit and pop onto the "ridge" in the center of the steel wheel. I thought that before I started surfing the internet looking for solutions, I'd see what others might have done. Has anybody had any experience with a setup like this? Any suggestions, help or experience from others would be most appreciated. Thanks very much for your help.
You'll need an aftermarket steel wheel a "Gennie". I happen to make them, give me a call at 559-322-2128 to order. Jimmy
